Mattias has been working as researcher at the Division of Combustion Physics since 2002. His research is mainly directed towards optical diagnostics in engines and gas turbines. The majority of the activities are related to R&D within Swedish and international engine industry. This in combination with a close collaboration with the Division of Combustion Engines often requires that the measurements are performed on site at the partner facility. Laser-induced fluorescence for visualization of concentration and temperature distributions constitute together with high-speed diagnostics the foundation for the research.
Mattias received his Ph.D. at Combustion Physics in 2002. His work was conducted together with Professor Marcus Aldén and was focused on development and application of optical diagnostics for engine development. Since then he has been responsible for the Division’s activities within the Centre of Competence Combustion Processes involving Volvo, General Motors, Scania, Volvo Powertrain, Caterpillar, Nissan, Hino and Toyota as industry partners. Mattias has also been representing Lund University in several EU-projects on engine and gas turbine development. In 2006 he became an Associate Professor.
